Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain

lordslumber — Tue, 04/22/2003 - 00:49

Title: Felt Mountain
Artist: Goldfrapp
Year: 2000

Of all the albums I have recently heard, I keep coming back to Goldfrapp’s “Felt Mountain”. It continues to grow on me though I have listened to it many times. Allison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory have found a balance between several styles that works perfectly for this album. Goldfrapp sings all the vocals, and Gregory plays various instruments and electronics. Though much of the instrumentation is clearly electronic in nature, Gregory play’s it as if it were simply another instrument added to the orchestra behind Goldfrapp’s talented voice. The songs tend to stay simple with touching melodies and clever but subtle electronic production. I would pick out some songs that stand out as highlights but there are highlights all throughout the album. To me their sound manages to be quite unique without each part being unique on its own. I highly recommend this album.
