National Treasure: Book of Secrets

gauntlet — Mon, 02/18/2008 - 10:17

Entertaining? Yes.

Better than the first? No.

The movie was fun and entertaining with a good plot line, except that the plot outcome was very predictable and obvious. Taking the queue from the first movie, Ben Gates (Cage) proceeds from one clue to another in search of the Golden City. However, he solves each clue almost immediately and it's very clear from the beginning who the antagonist and what his motivation is. The result is a story that does not really capture and hold the audience.

There are some entertaining lines delivered by Riley Poole (Bartha), serving as the comedy relief for the movie, which add some value to the movie.

Overall, the movie was fun and will probably make a good rental since you don't really have to pay attention to it in order to enjoy it.

3/ 5 stars.
